Edo Super 4 Says Eagles Russia BoundThe Organising body of the Edo Super 4 Women’s Football Championship to decide the ultimate winner of the Nigeria Women’s League, has declared the Super Eagles the first African team that will make it to the Russia 2018 World Cup. Chairperson of the Nigeria Women’s League, who also heads the body that will organize the tourney sponsored by the Edo State, Aisha Falode, said in a statement that the Nigerian national team has proven beyond all reasonable doubt that at the moment they are the best national team in Africa, even as she has already tipped the team to reach the last four at the Russia2018 World Cup. Already, Governor Godwin Obaseki, his deputy Philip Shuaibu and Edo FA Chairman, Frank Ilaboya, have all thrown their hats into the ring for the championship, which is the first of its kind in Nigeria nay African women football. There are also indications that the original date for the Championship in Benin City may be altered as the U20 national team will be in action during the week that the tourney will hold, which is 11-16 September. “A final decision has not been taken but we will keep our colleagues posted”, declared a close source to the Women’s League Chairman.
